Accessibility statement
Hammersmith.info aims to meet the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA.
Measures we take
- Semantic HTML, skip link, labelled forms and visible focus styles
- Colour contrast checked against brand teal and sand accents
- Respect for
prefers-reduced-motion(count-up animations stay on final values) - Dark mode via system preference or the header toggle
- Text alternatives on editorial images; decorative icons marked
aria-hidden - Keyboard-operable navigation, including the “More” menu
Known limitations
- Live maps (OpenFreeMap / MapLibre) may not expose full screen-reader routes; we provide list alternatives on Buses, Trains and Roads
- Third-party venue sites linked from What’s on are outside our control
- Some older news articles may still use the legacy footer markup while we finish the design-system pass
Compatibility
Tested with current Chrome, Firefox and Safari on desktop and mobile, plus Lighthouse accessibility audits on key pages.
